Its getting close to the European elections and if the predictions are to be believed, the British National Party will probably win lots more seats in the European council.
I dont particularly care for getting into massive debate about Europe, Elections or the BNP but here are some paragraphs of thoughts i had anyway.
I choose to believe that a substantial reason for their increasing ‘popularity’ at the polling stations is a protest vote, and not a vindication of the BNPs policies. It symbolises the frustration, fear and hopelessness that many people in communities all over Britain are feeling – feelings that are historically-proven fertile recruiting grounds for the far-right mantra of segregation and hate. The ineptitude, …
During the recent presidential campaign a rumor was started and widely circulated that Barack Obama, if elected, would begin a process to pay reparations to Black descendents of former slaves.
Such rhetoric betrays a serious lack of understanding of how things work at the highest levels of politics. For one, the office of President of the United States is primarily a figure head position. Another thing is that presidents have very little real power. The executive branch of government at the federal level was purposely designed by the writers of the Constitution to be the weakest of the three governing bodies.
The reparations rumor was designed to have the same effect on the body politic as the …
The President wants health care reform, well so do a lot of other people in this country,BUT, will it ever come.
I don’t care how hard he tries, he will never be able to achieve this, why, because this depends on forces bigger than him. This takes me back to 1976, in Oklahoma, I was working for an agency that was implementing section 8 housing.
We kept running across the same problem, elderly people that received 15 dollars a month in food stamps. Some were eating dog food, some weren’t eating at all. We had a representative in to explain some rules and regulations, and the question was asked, “why did they receive such a small amount …
Battle of Europe is closing but not here and now, Romania has to actively participate in EU decisions, and for this we need as many representatives of our country in European decision-making structures. We talked in this campaign about the need for a portfolio consistent representative of Romania in the forthcoming committee positions and influence to the Euro-parliamentarians and PSD Romanian Euro-parliamentarians in management structures of the European Parliament. Achieving this goal – winning a real influence in Romania Europe – is a primary objective for the PSD and, dare I say, for the entire Romanian political class. (1)
Elections Today we require at a worrisome finding: the turnout was extremely low and this shows that …
The Constitutional guaranty of freedom of speech is contained in the First Amendment and is but one of six guarantees spelled out in that amendment. The section relating to free speech is actually limited to 10 words, “Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech.”
As with most rights, free speech has limitations and those limits go far beyond the old example of yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater when there is no fire, a very reasonable restriction.
However, it’s worth remembering that the First Amendment and, indeed, the Constitution itself relates to the government “abridging” free speech, also called censorship. The non-governmental private sector suffers from no comparable inhibitions when it …
