Battle of Europe is closing but not here and now, Romania has to actively participate in EU decisions, and for this we need as many representatives of our country in European decision-making structures. We talked in this campaign about the need for a portfolio consistent representative of Romania in the forthcoming committee positions and influence to the Euro-parliamentarians and PSD Romanian Euro-parliamentarians in management structures of the European Parliament. Achieving this goal – winning a real influence in Romania Europe – is a primary objective for the PSD and, dare I say, for the entire Romanian political class. (1)
Elections Today we require at a worrisome finding: the turnout was extremely low and this shows that …
The Constitutional guaranty of freedom of speech is contained in the First Amendment and is but one of six guarantees spelled out in that amendment. The section relating to free speech is actually limited to 10 words, “Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech.”
As with most rights, free speech has limitations and those limits go far beyond the old example of yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater when there is no fire, a very reasonable restriction.
However, it’s worth remembering that the First Amendment and, indeed, the Constitution itself relates to the government “abridging” free speech, also called censorship. The non-governmental private sector suffers from no comparable inhibitions when it …
There is an old joke that starts by asking you, “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?” Whether you answer yes or no it sounds like you are admitting to being a wife beater. It’s a practical joke based on the use of an implicit premise – that you beat your wife. The technique is used for more than a laugh though. It’s also a favorite of politicians, who use it to manipulate public opinion.
You see, political manipulation is accomplished by controlling the framework in which others can argue and ultimately even think about things. To get your viewpoint accepted without openly arguing it, for example, you introduce it as an implicit premise of the …
The critter or limbic system is the earliest developed part of our brain. Its main question is, “Am I alive?” Think of a small salamander. Its job and life is to stay alive. It does not care whether or not, it loses its tail or arm. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is the head critter in the body called Iran, whose main question in life is “Am I alive?” No other question is important. Iran will have no issues of being in pain or eating its young. The only question is, am I alive. It does not care if it inflicts pain upon someone else. It does not care about the quality of life. …
The Private Sector Can Do It With The Correct Guiding Policies
The private medical health care system is not broken. It provides excellent care for patients. What is broken is the cost of the service.
Before health insurance use became wide spread, the market determined prices. The doctor would determine what price he could provide the service for. The patient would determine if he/she was willing and able to pay the price. When a third party became involved, such as an insurance company or the government, the price rose to the amount of the third party’s ability to pay.
The government decided to increase the number of people that were purchasing health insurance. Lobbied by the insurance companies, …

When I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast in 1973, credit card companies doing business in the State of Washington could not legally charge more than 12% interest on an account. That was because credit card interest rates were subject to the usury limits of the State of Washington; that was the law in every state.
In 1979, the U. S. Supreme Court justices that represented you and me ruled that the state of the lender, not of the borrower, had the sole power to legislate interest rate limits.
South Dakota then eliminated any usury limits, hoping to draw more businesses to its state. The credit card companies flocked to …
Cuban cigars: for a cigar aficionado, the ultimate forbidden fruit is to buy Cuban cigars. At least, that’s true if you live in the United States, which has long embargoed most trade and travel with the Communist island republic, which prevents the ability to buy Cuban cigars.
Even as much of Cuba’s storied cigar-making know-how has been exported to nearby countries such as the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras, both in the form of direct aid from the Cuban government to other countries’ cigar industries at various times and in the form of top cigar-making families that have gone to live in more business-friendly climes, Cuba continues to enjoy a reputation as the source of some …
Social media brings her death to the world
While not all politicians in America agree that the people should have the right to choose whether payday loans for quick cash is right for them, we do have reasonable assurance that if we disagree with their decisions, we will not be maimed or shot in public view. Unfortunately for the people of Iran, there are no such guarantees as riots continue to blaze on the streets of Tehran following the recent election farce. State controls have attempted to suppress news surrounding incidents, but they weren’t powerful enough to keep the rest of the world from finding out about Neda Soltani. She is the Iranian girl shot, and …
